Can I share some gratitude with you?

Hey!

I'm currently dreaming of a day I can pull out a sweater. It's still been in the 80's and 90's this week and I'd love nothing more than to be able to pull out a comfy sweater again and sip a peppermint mocha!

Since I started my business "officially" almost 8 years ago (not counting the trunk of my car years), a lot has changed. What started as a side-hustle to pay off student loans and afford a car has turned into so much more! Here are 3 of the things I'm most grateful for:

  1. I'm not crying at school every week! I was quite possibly to lowest paid director of any school in the area while doing the jobs of 3 people and making only a hair more than the teachers when I had triple the responsibilities. Hence a lot of tears the moment I closed the door of my office. That's no longer a thing. My tiny business has never made me cry! Quitting my job 2 years ago was the best decision I ever made!
  2. My "coworkers" at Tutor Success Academy. We each have our own small tutoring businesses and have co-working sessions to bounce ideas and help each other out. Big shout out to Jill, Maleeta, and Cathleen who have really helped me along the way!
  3. Being able to work directly with more kids, parents and educators. As I moved up the ranks at the school, I was no longer directly teaching kids, except when I had to substitute teach. Each day I get to have a direct impact on kids, families, and educators I help support. Just last night, I was able to support a group of parents through our local Decoding Dyslexia branch.

I'm so grateful for the things this business has taught me and for people like you who support me on this entrepreneurial journey!

What are you grateful for?

On the Podcast: The Language of Math

In This Episode:

Welcome to Episode 115 of Dyslexia Devoted and today we’re talking about why math can be so challenging for kids with dyslexia.

One fantastic resource I forgot to mention on the episode is the PhotoMath app! It's a game changer! It shows kids all the steps to solve a math problem just based on a photo of it on a paper, screen, or neatly handwritten. It has saved me for some of those tough middle and high school math problems kids bring to me that I haven't done in 20+ years!!!
